The Shared Bank is only to exchange items between characters on your own account login, not between characters on two different account logins.
Your account login has a Shared Bank and all the characters (you can have up to 6 on each account login) can access the items within that shared bank.
Your son's account login has a Shared Bank and all the characters on his account can access the items within his shared bank, but he cannot access yours, and you cannot access his as you are on two different accounts
If there's an item that someone wants, there's a good chance it's already in the Bazaar in Olde Town, which negates the need for player to player trading.
