Continuance of the Spiral - Or Not?

So I know how Empyrea Part 1 ended. A friend of mine recently finished it, and my friend thinks at the end of Empyrea Part 2, the Spiral will end & the game will be shut down. With the way Part 1 ended this seems possible. Is my friend's theory true? I sure hope it isn't....

I'm just kinda curious how we are gonna stop the spiral from imploding in terms of the story.

Are we gonna pull a salior moon and sacrifice our magical powers only for a ridiculous deux ex machina to fall out of the void (probably a certain spider lady who did want to remake/own the spiral) and allow us to continue our life/quest.
