I guess I've been managing fine so far, but has anyone else been having some difficulty with finding people to do quests, farm bosses or do dungeons with? I have friends in game but sometimes they're busy or they're offline. Definitely not complaining about the game as it's pretty good but was just curious.

Have you created an account on wizard101central.com It is a free site and there are group that do just what you are asking for.
There is also a lot of information available in the Wiki there as well.
