Yes, you are unable to gain it from crowns, but (most) dropped pets have the crown icon. And as it's from Aquila, the Harpy which is dropped by the Sand Squid also shows that.
So I don't think that it's an incorrect icon, considering it's been in the game for as long as Aquila been in the game.
