Nested Fury Spell

How come when im battle questing, the spell Nested Fury will not let me click it. Even if I have full pips. It only works when it wants to.

Nested Fury is a shadow enhanced spell. Besides the usual Power Pips, you need one shadow pip. Did you have a shadow pip when you tried to cast it?
