The site lists one of its parents as the Danger Hound and the other parent as "any", what does that mean? I have a Fierce Hound so if it means any other hound will do I would love to partner it with anyone who has the Danger Hound. I also have an adult Helephant and Unicorn if anyone would like to try to hatch a Nightmare pet. Thank you for any and all help.

It means you need a Danger Hound and any other pet...any of the pets you mentioned will work. The better stats they have the better chances of getting someone to hatch with you.
