I'm not necessarily sure, but he does give a lovely storm hat, very useful to my storm char.

I am pretty sure he is a solo boss. A day or too I defeated him solo. I tried to get a few friends to port but it wouldn't let them.

It took me three trys but I defeated him! :D

it is a solo boss even if you enter the spirit world with someone else you still have to solo him
