First, I am behind on my quests that my teacher, (Professor Wu) gave to me. I'm still on level 48 Life Quest, where I have to defeat this dude in the Labyrinth, which I haven't unlocked yet.
In your case it is better that you quest to get this area unlocked on your own so that you can kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak because later on you will get the quest to collect chests to make a dragon riders staff and one of them is in there and you have to complete at least 1/2 the fights to get into talk to the Dean for it. Hence cutting fight time down by one dungeon run.
