I need the Serpent Staff, but I can't defeat Manu Nirini! Any ideas :(

You should do other quests that level up your wizard, after that you can get training points , then use those training points for longer spells :-)

You get it only after killing him, have you done side quests to lvl up a bit maybe to get your next spell to have a stronger attack in him
It such?

Try shrinking your deck as well and only put in the cards you need to kill him (fizzle cards don't delete from the deck so don't worry about fizzles)
