Storm Wizard Question

I've seen the names that some Wizards are called, like Death is called Necromancers, Life are called Theurgist and so on, but why are Storm charracters called Diviners? Im sure they ment Diviner as in God like and not as in future prediction diviner, I think that using the word Diviner is some what not very appropriate and could end up being offensive to some religious people, so that is my question, what exactly do they mean when they call Storm charracters Diviners? Is it because they cast "God like" powers? or are the charracters themselves called Divine? What do you think about this?

I took it to mean diviner as in trying to find water with a divining rod.

Diviner as in divination, the practice of predicting the future, much like you would do (and has been done) trying to predict the weather.
