I have my 8 year old nephew playing and he is new... he is trying to learn to pvp and does the ranked matches but constantly he is harassed and being called noob and that he sucks.. if he flees the match so he doesn't have to read it, he is receives private messeges saying the same rude and insulting stuff... IS this okay? is being rude and insulting and telling people that they suck and are noob allowed? I have my son playing this to avoid things like that.. that's why I don't let him play world of warcraft. I've told him to report it and to ignore them.. but now for some reason the ignore button wont work on some people and also I dont want him to get in trouble for making false reports.. so I am asking.. what can be done... is this type of conduct allowed? Are the reports he made false because this conduct is allowed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Players under the age of 13 are defaulted to Menu chat for a reason. Wizard101 features a safe Menu Chat system that offers a wide range of pre-selected phrases, greetings and emotions that give players flexibility with in-game communication while keeping exchanges safe and family-friendly.
Parents of players under the age of 13 are given the ability to give their child the typed Filtered Text Chat if they feel it is appropriate for their age, but it must be turned on manually with the input of a parental control password and a valid credit card.
If your under age 13 nephew has Filtered Text Chat it was either enabled by an adult through the Parental Control system, or a false birth date was entered on registration.
To disable Text Chat and set your underage nephew to the Menu Chat intended for players under the age of 13, simply turn off Filtered Text Chat in the Parental Controls for that account. Alternately, you can contact our Customer Support department through our Contact Us link at the bottom of every page of the website for instructions on how to remove the Text Chat.
When you report someone, or you are reported, a message is sent directly to Mr Lincoln that includes the chat logs of everything that was said before and after that report.
Mr Lincoln then reads the log and assess the situation. He determines how bad the offense was, looks up prior offenses for the reported individual, and based on that assessment he issues sanctions such as muting or banning and sends an email to the offending account explaining the violation and the sanctions.
If the report was falsely made, that is determined as well, and the player who made the false report is investigated as to whether or not they have made previous false reports. False reports are just a egregious as valid ones, and similar sanctions can be levied against repeat offenders of false reporting.
Everything that a player enters into the chat window is logged. These larger chat logs are also routinely checked for those infractions that are not reported.
What is Considered a Reportable Offense? We appreciate that our players want to make Wizard City the best it can be, and we've placed the tools in your hand to report players for inappropriate behavior. We ask that you use the reporting feature to identify truly egregious behavior, such as creative profanity (swearing around the filters), solicitation of usernames/passwords, predatory threats, racist comments and other such actions as outlined in the Terms of Use. The old story of “the kid that cried wolf” has a lot of bearing in this situation and we trust that all reports received by players are valid and require support intervention.
What is NOT considered a Reportable Offense? Because false reporting can be construed and/or used as harassment of other players, we’d like to take a moment to ensure you are aware of what does NOT fall under the category of a reportable offense:
“S/he falsely reported me” or reporting someone for false reporting (2 wrongs don’t make a right)
“Won’t leave my house” (pick your friends wisely and avail yourself of the non-porting option)
“Being rude” (We’re sorry, we can’t enforce good manners. Use the ignore button liberally &/or change realms. It’s wholly up to you to choose to stay around someone that’s not nice to you.)
“Chain Stunning” (admittedly, it’s not much fun for the receiving team, but it’s not a violation of the game rules).
“Scamming” (KingsIsle will NEVER ask for treasure card(s) in exchange for a code. Trading “cards for codes” is done at the players’ own risk. Codes are either fully public or one time use)
“Spamming” (Although the Terms of Use mention spamming, it’s related to email/web posts. Yeah, it’s annoying in game and never of profound statement. Refer to “Being Rude”).
If you want the prize, you have to build the ladder rung by rung. There are no shortcuts.
Great response!! Thank you!! Question answered and problem solved =) sorry if any previous reports did not qualify as breaking the rules and thus were deemed false
Raijukin, another thing you can do is go into your nephews/or sons backpack and disable pvp chat that way he doesnt have to listen or see what others say. also, if he refrains from speaking during the pvp battle then the opponents or their friends cannot clilck on his name in the chat window and then send him a private message. hope this helps
Fine, and what about players that use several characters on one single PVP fight? Is that against the rules, or not?
A similiar question, with a practical example, was submitted a few days ago. As it happens often in these situation, the answer has not been given and the post not published.

Well as a paying customer, if one pays for more than one account and has more than one wizard playing pvp they should be able to play them how they want. You can't start telling people that they cant play what they pay for? It would be pretty hard to say ok, thats not fair so no one can use their wizards together, why because they play the wizards themselves? It really does not make that big of a difference if you are playing 2 different players who have lots of experience. My point being: if you want to ban those who play more than one character, than you might as well say that an adult playing against an 8 year old is not fair. So lets make matches based on ages; or even a 14 year old against an 8/9 year old, how is that fair? Obviously a teen or an adult has an age advantage over a younger person, especially a young child. So, where are we going here? Does everyone really want to go down this path? and start banning the use of multiple wizards? Not I. Then you open a whole can of worms as to whats fair or not. Its pvp for gosh sakes, just play or not. I mean really, you got friends who ban together and form teams, so thats not fair? because they might get matched up with non-friends? or gee I want to play both my wizards together and get matche up against friends playing their own wizards but sitting next to each other using laptops at the same house cause they are friends irl, SO is that fair? come on, KI should not change any of that because that is the nature of paying accounts, being friends or being neighbors. Is is a slight advantage, yes sometimes, but more often than not it makes no difference to the experienced opponent.

Fine, I agree. So, I want to play PVP agains 1 physical player if i'm in 1 vs 1, 2 players if i'm in 2 vs 2 and so on.
Can i do that today? No.
The point still stand: it's unfair.
The question as well: is it against the rules? I guess a simple player as any of us can't answer that - "rulemakers" can.
And getting out of rethorics, try and think of the *huge* advantage that having 4 parallel decks is. Definitely not the same than playing against 4 different people.
At least leave us the choice not to be matched against "friends" teams.
I do think it's a form of unfairness to play two different accounts at the same time in PvP. If it's a 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 match, the person with two or more characters has a big advantage over the other team, because s/he can coordinate an attack with much greater ease alone than with others on the team. After all, you can see your other characters' cards, which isn't usually the case with a PvP team. So yeah, it may not be against the official rules, but IMHO it is cheating. At the very least, such activity is unsportsmanlike and flies against the concept of a fair fight.
I also think it's unsportsmanlike to use high level minions in 1v1, even though that isn't against the rules. Such a ploy turns the battle into 1v2.
