Symbols throughout WC and the Spiral

I was running though somewhere in WC helping a friend, when I noticed the symbol on the ground. It was a stylized dragon. This got me thinking of other symbols such as those in the towers of the individual schools. Those big ones on the floor and most don't make sense. Can someone give me a clue as to what they mean?

Most of them are school symbols. Others are monsters that belong to the school. Some are random.

has anyone noticed that the symbol in the life tower (the triangle) looks like the hyrule symbol in the legend of zelda video games? O_O
