hey Professor... in Stormriven in Celestia while fighting Cuthulla you need to use higher cost spells EXCEPT:
when casting the zero cost star or sun spells like ... vengeance, empowerment etc... you have no repercussion but casting any other schools' zero cost spell causes the big guy to put out a big tower shield
I am only guessing, but I would think it is because the focus of that world is celestian (celestial?) magic. The programmers want you to use the new spells, In a way Cuthulla encourages you to use sun and star school spells, because those spells don't trigger the boss's response.
