Shoulden't they be death. They look like they should be death and the dark sprite spell card is from the school of DEATH. I think it makes no sense that they are life. It's just really weird. So why are they life?
Well, the dark fairies were once good, until Rattlebones got a hold of them. I guess a part of them is their old selves.
