What's with the shields made by Frost Giant?

Ok, so I just got Frost Giant (Yay! Master of Ice), and I've noticed the shields put on those who are attacked by it. What do they do? They don't seem to have any effect and the card doesn't explain it.

I know those shields appear with the stun portion of the spell.

But I haven't figured out what those shields are for either. Try searching for information on "stun." :)

It puts 4 Stunblock shields on each enemy.
