I walk in two stone soldiers fight them. I win but no Itennu Sokkwi. He does not show up. Am i missing something?

Is that the room where you have to walk past the fighting area (after you beat them), and then enter a second room to find him???

Itennu Sokkwi is thru the gate directly in the rear of the grand arena.
