true friend codes?

What are true friend codes? I Have used one but i was unnafected. What do they do? Do they get you exp.? Or crowns? Or a pet? Sombody PLEASE answer this!

I know, me too. My friend Amber Death and I are true friends, but it won't let us use "unlimited chat" to each other! I don't get it!
