This is the September 2011 installment of my Book of the Month Club. These books have been suggested by a fellow Librarian from Earth, her name is Kit Ward-Crixell and she is a librarian in New Braunfels, Texas, USA.
This month we have a very special book for you, it's a good book for a good cause. We know how much our players love pets and mounts, and this is a wonderful story. A Friend for Einstein, the Smallest Stallion by Charlie Cantrell and Dr. Rachel Wagner is the true story of Einstein, the smallest miniature horse ever born. Einstein is too small to play with other horses, and his best friend is Lily, a dog. Einstein is famous now – he’s been on Good Morning America and eaten graham crackers on The View - and his pictures are completely adorable. Part of the sale price from this book goes to the ASPCA’s Equine Fund, to help organizations that give good homes to abandoned or mistreated horses.
Look for this book in your school or local library and enjoy reading, young Wizards! |
