The Spring Update of 2022 has finally arrived! The 5th Age of PvP is finally here for veteran and new players alike! PvP play will be moved to a season-based system with season-based leagues, a new zero-sum Elo scoring system, and a complete overhaul of the fundamentals of how we achieve a fair and fantastically fun competitive PvP gameplay experience. A new PvP system is just the start of what you can check out in the Spring Update! A friendly reminder that we expired 4th Age PvP tickets with the new 5th Age tickets now being awarded for winning certain PvP matches.
Cantrips have also been released to cast magic out of combat! There are five different types of Cantrips ranging from Teleport, Flourish, Radiance, Ritual, and Sigil Support. Each category offers something a little different from the others. Also in the update are new Beastforms for Beastmoon events, an expansion to Spellements that extends the feature to your main Arc 1 spells, a new Loyalty Program that rewards long-term concurrent subscribers, and much more.
Keep updated on the latest news for next month on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, including special announcements from community fansites! Read on for more fun happenings with the community and their Spiral activities.
KI LIVE: SPRING UPDATE AND SPECIAL GUESTS
We’re leaping into spring with the best KI live to date! Many questions and concerns about the new Wizard101 update are answered, the two new community managers are introduced, and Ratbeard continues to be a true legend. Pirate and Wizard101 rejoice - there is something for everyone!
Missed the show? No worries! You can watch the recording on YouTube:
It's always a blast hanging out with the community, so let us know what you most like about KI Lives so we can continue to make them even more fun to watch.
For those who didn't get a chance to redeem the KI Live giveaway code yet, we opened it up again (UNFORGIVENSNACKS) for another 500 redemptions to get the KI Live Snack Pack in both Wizard101 and Pirate101!
But wait, there’s more! We have some more of the Superfan Headphone and Boots codes. Redeem (KILIVESUPERBOOTS) for a chance to get one of 500.
A great gameplay tip submitted to KI Live comes from Griffin:
"While questing, making a “gear set” featuring different deck setups on each is extremely helpful, as you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+1,2,3, 4, etc. to switch depending on which number it is. It helped me a lot while solo questing through Wiz!" - Griffin
SPRING DECORATING CONTEST BEGINS
It’s Spring cleaning time! That can mean only one thing... a decorating contest, of course! Today kicks off our first Spring Decorating Contest. It’s time to sweep the dust under the rugs and repaint the walls whatever color suits your fancy. Put your decorating skills to the ultimate test and share your creations with the rest of the community throughout the contest period!
You’ll get an opportunity to win some great prizes, vote for nominated winners, plus all Wizards are bound to see tons of decorating tips and design sneak peeks from the participants and replies to social commentary. We’ll be awarding prizes and even featuring the winners on May’s KI Live. There is also a version of this contest for Pirate101 players, so you can enter both!
We’ve come up with a set of categories to help guide you in your decorating efforts. Each category will have 1 Grand Decorator and 2 Runner-Up Decorators.

DEV DIARY: WORLD SPELLEMENT SOURCES
A new Dev Diary is here! Artie and Cam write all about your Spellement needs! Here’s an update on the progress we made with the Spellements system as it currently stands in the Spring Update. Spellements now drop many more Spellements from all WORLD Spellement sources. This does NOT include Loremaster. Lore Spellements will receive a similar treatment when we address those sources in a future update.
Details in the newest Dev Diary! Take a closer look here!

MEET KYLE - NEW CM TEAM MEMBER
"Hello there Wizards! My name is Kyle IceWielder. Some of you may know me from YouTube, others from questing through the Spiral! I’d like to introduce myself so you can get to know me a little better.
I’ve been playing Wizard101 since 2008 with my twin brother and mom. From the moment I touched this game, I knew that one day I’d like to work for Wizard101. I created a YouTube channel dedicated to Kingsisle games, moved to Austin, and eventually landed my first Community Management job with Gamigo for Fractured Online! It felt like the stars were aligning! I learned a lot with Gamigo but eventually had the honor to move to be the Community Manager for Wizard101, but have no fear Spark is not going anywhere, he is still the Senior Community Manager at Kingsisle Entertainment! Not gonna lie, I still feel like I’m living a dream but, who cares! I’m having the best time of my life!
Other than this magical game, I’m a lover of anime and of course an avid gamer! Not gonna drag this any longer than it has to be so thank you everyone for the WARM welcome, and I am so honored to be a new Community Manager to the Community team for Wizard101!
See you all in the Spiral,
Kyle IceWielder"
NEW ART FROM ADAM ROUSH
Sometimes Adam will create a series of concept art for a particular scene or character. Here are a few concepts of his most recent pieces this month:
“Here's a look at the Wild Lemur design process. Went through several iterations and ideas before arriving at the final design. I had so much fun on all the lemur designs, especially on these :).” - Adam Roush

For this month’s art spotlight, we are showcasing John DragoBlood and BrittleTin! John has shown us his incredible designs before and we are extremely happy to add BrittleTin’s Qismah piece to this month’s Art Spotlight. Take a look at their most recent pieces!
"Here's my version of the back of the spell cards!" - John DragoBlood
"Qismah from Wizard101. Really proud with how this turned out!" - BrittleTin
