Tis the season to be jolly, so let’s close out the year with a bang in Wizard101! We’ve been making a lot of plans for this month, and we hope enjoy all we have in store for you. Most of the fun this month will center around fan events and our traditional 12 (or maybe 13 if you’re lucky) Days of the Spiral, which will begin sometime during the month. Krampus and the Christmas decorations will be back and we’ll be uploading a new KI *not* Live to YouTube for you to enjoy.
Looking back on last month, November was full of thankful moments. We truly are thankful for our fans, and please don’t forget to redeem the code “2017ThankYouGift” before the end of the year for a free two energy elixirs in Wizard101 and two energy potions in Pirate101. We also showed our thanks to Veterans last month with the new Eternal Flame housing item. We were also thankful for all our fans helping us blow past our Extra-Life goals—way to go! And last but not least, we were thankful to have finally released the new world of Empyrea Part 1 to Wizard101! It made for a very exciting November in The Spiral.
Read on for more information and links about what happening at KingsIsle and beyond. Thanks for playing Wizard101.

We’re starting a new feature for the Wizard101 newsletter that will be known as the “Zone of the Month” where we pick a random zone and give a few fun facts and information about what you’ll find there (and maybe even a bit of backstory you didn’t know!) If the zone is a Premium Area (like it is this time), we’ll even discount the zone’s cost for a while! Typically this discount will only be for a short time after publication of the newsletter, but for this first one, we’re going to extend the discount price for the entire month!
This month’s random zone is . . . The Science Center. Why? Why not! (That’s the beauty of randomness.)
Name: Science Center
Location: Celestia – You’ll find the Science Center through an unassuming doorway off to the right from the Celestia Base Camp. Just look to the side of Gearwise, the Recipe Vendor.
Description: Upon entering you are greeted with steam vents, barrels and underwater sea diving equipment. Upon further inspection it’s easy to tell . . . something’s just not quite right here – things are a bit in shambles, and “friendly” automatons appear to be patrolling everywhere!
Cost: This premium area in Wizard101 is also bundled with the Crustacean Empire for the price of 1695 Crowns, but because this is our zone of the month, we’ve discounted this area to 1000 Crowns this month only! If you’ve never purchased this area, this might just be the time to check it out and get in on a good deal.
Zeke Item? Lounging Lizard! See pictures below for a hint.
Chests: Yes! See pictures below for a hint.
Secrets: There’s a campfire here you can “collect” for your own house! See pictures for a hint.
Reagents: Kelp, Sandstone, Scrap Iron, and Shell
Fishing: No Fishing here (not a lot of places where that could happen anyway). . . but there are plenty of Fish driving mech robots!
Teleporters: Yup! There’s a teleporter in the first dome that will teleport you to the other two.
What’s the 4-1-1? A typical wizard will find themselves in this zone during the last half of their trek through Celestia when Edith Benchley requests you visit Piper Melville, who’s a part of the Celestian Science Team. Piper becomes your first guide as you help with Steam Trowellers that have gone on the fritz. Watch out, Steam-Bots are pressing the attack!
Engineer Montgomery becomes your second VIP NPC who puts you to work battling rogue mechs and restoring the Science Center generator. Your expert sleuthing uncovers a trail that leads to restoring Power-Cores, mending a broken Key, and gaining the knowledge you need to restore a Crystal Reactor.
By the end, you’ve quelled the revolt, earned Engineer Montgomery’s respect, and gathered the last piece of the puzzle in order to open the Solarium! Great job!
Who’s that Boss? The big bad in the Science Center is a fish-bot known as Maglump. Little is known about what actually set Maglump on his path of “deviltry” as Engineer Montgomery calls it, but after you defeat him, he’ll drop a piece of the portal to the Solarium . . . perhaps this is a clue?
Don’t miss this Side quest! Within the Science Center you’ll also find Engineer Grace Conrad who leads you down a path of discovery that eventually results in battling two big bosses: The Amphibaton and Praxus. Praxus was meant to be a wonderful aid to the science team, but ended up being a very dangerous threat. Grace is definitely happy when you help save the day.

On November 29th, 2017, A new quest was unveiled in Wizard City’s Olde Town during our Latest KI Live (you can see this at the 39:30 mark on YouTube). This quest features Derrick Lawrence (AKA Derrick Blaze), our latest Make-A-Wish VIP to visit KingsIsle Entertainment.
We were honored that Derrick’s wish was to visit with us at KingsIsle, and we spent a wonderful day with him in October showing him the ins and outs of game development. During Derrick’s visit we showered him with gifts both in-game and out! It was amazing having him.
Derrick’s presence can be experienced in two places in Wizard101. First, Derrick, his brother, and his mother all performed voice over lines, and they can be heard having a discussion about “a wizard school” in Zanadu from Empyrea Part 1.
Second, Derrick also offers a new quest called “Play it Forward” for players who are level 13+ as he introduces players to the Team Up Kiosk in Olde Town. Derrick also acts as a faction vendor for those who have earned badges from completing Team Ups with other players. If you’ve earned the right Team Up badges, you will unlock the various items he has for sale, including a Team Up Kiosk of your own that you can place within your housing, a set of stitchable gear, a pet, and a mount.
Thanks for visiting with us, Derrick, and for helping us make Wizard101’s Olde Town an even more magical place for Wizards to visit.

We simply can’t get our hands on enough fan art! Please keep sending us your amazing pieces of fan art to community@wizard101.com, and thank you for sharing your creativity with us. We love how you see our world!
This month’s spotlight falls upon a wizard named Ian Lifesong. Ian’s art is amazing and very whimsical, which we love. The staff Ian’s character is holding is of his own design as well! What a fun picture. Thanks for sending it to us, Ian!
Ian explained a bit more about his art piece in an email to us: “I like to be original in my drawings so I usually try to come up with my own gear design, even when the drawing is a fanart. While this gear is heavily inspired by the in-game items, (especially the boots that came out horribly xD) the weapon is something I really focused on. I tried to design a completely new weapon, something a life wizard would use.
After I finished it I realized that I could draw an entire set for each school, each one with a slightly different design and color palette. The floating gem could even be different and representative for each school. For example fire will have a ruby, balance a Citrine and so on... (I am looking forward to doing this in the near future).
I also drew my bumblebee pet that I just hatched last month and some life cards just to give more personality to the drawing.”
