KingsIsle Entertainment and Gameforge Partner
KingsIsle Entertainment, Inc. today announced a licensing agreement with German online games publisher Gameforge to bring its award-winning massively multiplayer game Wizard101 to Europe.
“This partnership is an important first step in our strategy to expand beyond the domestic US market and bring Wizard101 to an international audience,” said Elie Akilian, chairman and CEO of KingsIsle Entertainment. “It’s a very exciting time at KingsIsle and we are eager to share the magical world of Wizard101 with an entirely new community of players.”
“Wizard101 has proven to be a high-quality MMO that appeals to a large audience of all ages. We are very excited to partner with KingsIsle in bringing this great game to the European market and expand its audience globally,“ said Carsten van Husen, CEO of Gameforge 4D.
Earlier this summer, KingsIsle announced that more than 10-million Wizards have registered to play Wizard101 since the game launched in September 2008. KingsIsle is currently working closely with Gameforge to localize Wizard101 for the European market. The first European launch is planned for late 2010.

| | | | | Weekend Connection Issues Many young Wizards experienced delays trying to log in to the game on Sunday afternoon, and others found they were unable to move between areas in the game. Just to give our players an update, Wizard101 was actually full! Yes that's right, so many players were in the game that no more players could fit!
Even with all our server upgrades, Wizard101 is growing so fast that we filled up the Spiral. We will continue to improve and expand on our servers to accommodate the ever growing population.
We apologize for the inconvenience over the weekend, and we're working diligently to ensure we're prepared for future population increases!
| | | | | Feedback FridayFrom time to time, we'd like to put out a call for your thoughts, opinions, and ideas on one specific burning question or topic. This week, we'd like to ask: if you could add ONE girl's name, ONE boy's name, and ONE last name to the list offered at character creation, what would you add? See this message board post.

| | | | | Important Pet InformationThere seems to be a lot of confusion with regards to hatching pet outcomes. If you are hatching your pet with a pet you cannot equip, you will not get a pet you cannot equip as a result.
You have a high chance of getting an offspring of your current pet and you have a chance of getting a rare hybrid of the two pets.
You will not receive a pet from hatching that you cannot equip.

| | | | | Make your Own Video Games! Many young Wizards seek information about what it takes to make games. You've probably already see the videos about how Wizard101 was created ( if not click here!) and if you want to try making your own game, there are a couple of ways you can do that.
Scratch
Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. As you create and share Scratch projects, you learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, with financial support from the National Science Foundation, Microsoft, Intel Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Google, Iomega and MIT Media Lab research consortia.
For more information about Scratch see this website: Scratch
Invent with Python
For those of you who like to learn, there's a FREE book about programming with a FREE language called Python. "Invent with Python" was written to be understandable by kids as young as 10 to 12 years old, although it is great for anyone of any age who has never programmed before. For more on this free book, visit Invent with Python.
Just keep writing down and refining your ideas, look for new ways to do something that currently exists, and continue to expand your knowledge of math, physics, geometry and history, all of which play a vital role in making and designing a video game.
