(omg im not surprised that im writing this cuz im not that smart) i need help getting one of those knifes from the magma men in fire cat ally. im a lvl 11 life and don't know how to get one! its frustrating me that every time im done battling the magma men, it ALWAYS SAYS "try again". this is driving me crazy! please respond if you know how to help me!!!!

Sadly, young wizard, there are going to be more instances of "do not collect" in the spiral ahead of you, it's part of the game. Some rates have been increased, others not so much. I remember Matrons in Celestia took me 2 days to collect on one quest and don't even get me started on those fire lions in ZA. These later were tweaked.
Some times you can mix it up by taking a break from the quest, battle them in a different spot, ask to join someone else battling them, switching realms etc.. If it doesn't help at least it mixes it up enough to cause a diversion in constant try agains.

It's one of the earliest 'do not collect' quests and can be totally frustrating. Just keep dueling them and eventually you'll get it. (over the last 3+ years I've tried everything, from looking at the map to ignoring it to just jumping in... it seems to be totally random)
