Everytime i go there to collect the history, i defeat the enemy and go to the book and it does nothing. i can never complete the quest. Someone HELP

Well, you have to make sure you are in the right tower, and make sure you are close enough that a message at the bottom will say: "Book, Press X or Left Click to Interact". Hope this helped!
