Wizard101 is getting really popular and the prices of crowns and membership are really rising. Only like once a month does wizard101 crown and membership sales happen. I don't think its a good ratio of how much crowns you get. If you buy a gift card for example and pick crowns ($10) you can only buy like two places, not even two worlds, two avanues in a world. For example the worlds in morleybone and Avalon cost a lot of crowns. Ten dollars goes to waste. And if your planning to buy thinks in the crown shop, you can only really buy a level 35 wand or a mount(not even a good one). In my opinion 1 dollar should equal 1000 crowns. If it were like that more people would by membership and crowns because is more for less money. Also more people would play wizard101 because not so maney people have so much money to spare, because wizard101 is a hobbie it isn't really like my whole life. I have to buy food and rent and support my brothers and sisters. But I really like this game and I worked really hard on my level 57 life wizard. But I ran out of membership right when I was going to get forest lord. Now I'll have to wait a long time till I can buy it again. So please I'm only 14 y.o and I don't get 10 a month I barley get any money at all. That's why I think wizard101 should lower its prices.
The prices for Crowns and Memberships are exactly the same now as they were in 2008 when we launched the game.
Whether you purchase a Membership or Pay by Area, really depends on how you think you will play the game.
If you plan to push through as much of the content as possible in the shortest amount of time, then a month to month Membership is the best value for you.
If you plan to play several characters over a long period of time, then a 6month or 1year Membership is probably the best value for you.
If you only have a few hours a week to spare, or will hold off playing for long periods of time, then purchasing individual areas is the best value for your time. It allows you to purchase just the next street you need to progress, and once you've purchased an area, it's accessible to all your characters on that account. Purchasing individual areas lets you progress at your own pace without feeling like you have a Membership hanging over your head.
The prices for the individual areas can be found here: https://www.wizard101.com/game/areapricing If you're not sure, then use the Free to Play portion of the game as your guide. See how fast you move through to the end of Triton Avenue, and gauge your passion and your available time accordingly.
Crown sales happen at least twice a month. More if they release a new card pack in the crowns shop. Prices for crowns are better online than buying a card from a store and you get more crowns per dollar when buying in larger numbers. Game subscriptions are really inexpensive when compared to other online games and the initial game is free. If not for a large player base and the crowns shop, I'd worry that Kings isle wasn't making enough money to support itself.
Other online games will cost you $50 to buy, and $12-$20 a month for a paid subscription. Wizard101 costs $0 to buy, and $6.50 to $10 a month for a paid subscription. That is considerably less. All that being said, thank you Wizard101 for being a fun game that is very reasonably priced.
