I only play every once and a while, and every time I cancel my membership for another six month hiatus it's because I cannot stand how long the combat takes. Boss fights should be exciting, but instead I'll pull out a book (I'm not even joking) because there is SO MUCH time between actions.
This absolutely ruins a huge portion of the game and it seems like it would be so easy to fix.
Some ideas: Have battle animation and no battle animation servers. Have a quick mode option, and if everyone has quick mode on the battle has reduced or no animations. A skip or fast forward button.
I would play so much more if the battles were not so unnecessarily long.
