Obtaining a Sword

Swords that are obtained via boss kills and quests are for levels 40+.

Swords that lower levels have like Valor, is given to those who have relatives who are in the military and is saving us right now.

Now-Rare swords like the Umbra was given by a code.

You can earn them by defeating certain Bosses or you can buy them at the Bazaar. If you go to wizard101central and do a search for swords, it will give you a lift of what bosses has what type of sword.

The ones you see low level wizards carrying are from special events...like the Sword of Valor was from Veteran's Day. Also there are sometimes codes in gaming magazines and such that you can use to obtain low or zero level swords.

Otherwise swords are usually something you have to wait until level 40 to be able to use, and those come by way of lucky drops when fighting certain boss creatures.
