Our family has two computers of equal quality with which we play the game. One had the game installed last January and the other was reformatted in March and had the game installed in mid september when we decided to start playing again. The computer that had the game installed last January got patches, of course, but still had its original installation of the game.

The computer that had the game installed on it in September seems to do voice overs for characters pretty much everywhere that I have gone, which is primarily Wizard City and Krokatopia (sp?). The computer that was set up in January does not consistantly produce voicework. For instance, it worked fine on the Penny Dreadful quests, yet when in Krokatopia it is strangely mum to say anything for me or my niece, which is frustrating for her since she is young and does not have a lot of reading skills yet.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have checked to make sure that the voice volume is up, obviously. I did not see any "voice on / voice off" options or anything of that sort so I cannot see it being that either. If there is anything that you could suggest that might help us it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

My first step would be to reinstall the game from a fresh download on the computer that is not producing voiceover sounds.

You can download the game from scratch here:
https://www.wizard101.com/downloadGame/OtherDownload
Now please bear in mind, that this will be a small download, but a large patch, as it will need to redownload all the areas that you've visited on that account when you log in.

It may also be of personal interest for you to compare the sizes of the Wizard101 folders on the two computers. For example, my Wizard101 Data folder (C:\Program Files\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\Data) is just under 1.80 GB. If your two installations vary distinctly in size, then it could be as simple as a few missing sound files.

Please do let me know if this is resolved with a reinstall, and if it is not, I can have our technical Wizards contact you via email for a more indepth look at what is going on.

We have now attempted two re-installs. One was done shortly after I initially posted this message and the troubled computer successfully got voice for Krokatopia. Unfortunately when the player on this PC then proceeded to Grizzleheim as directed by Merle Ambrose at level 20 the voice problems yet again resurfaced.

Once again we have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it again. This computer, by choice of its owner, uses McAfee as anti-virus. The other machine uses Avast! . The initial download works properly but when the game is logged into and downloads are going on while inside and playing the actual download quality grinds to a halt and the voice overs for the necessary areas are still non-existant. We have examined the instructions relating to McAfee and have tried all of those listed. We have turned the Firewall off to see if that would help. No success regardless of our efforts.

I have tried to look up aditional information on making McAfee and Wizard 101 co-exist more peacefully but alas such detailed information -- *any* legitimate information really -- about working with McAfee does not exist. If there is anything that I am missing in all of this please let me know. Thank you.
