Helping Hands works differently than other healing spells. Take Sprite for example, it uses a 30 healing and then uses 270 over time. Helping hands only adds 640 over time. If it was 50 healing then 640 healing it would resurrect the person you cast it upon. So, it isn't a bug or a stupid design. It is the way KI intended it to be. It makes sure that it's at LEAST somewhat balanced and that Balance doesn't turn into the Master class.
