Dryad and oni

Ok i just soloed sunken city for moolinda then she sends me to fight the oni, but when i get there it won't let me in. I have not fought him (mainline anyway) so do i need to go through the main line quest to get to him? Is there something I am missing?

you could probably port to someone who is in there
and i dont know if you are missing anything cause i am fire and my only life person is lvl 15

Yes, you need to have done all of the storyline quests before his to be able to fight him.

Did you ever finish the Oakheart side quest?

I know I have to follow main line to open oni up, but, I was wondering if I have to wait for mainline to open him for the dryad quest or if I should be able to fight him now.
