Strange hatch?

Hi. I just hatched a gnome (life) and a basalisk (myth I believe) and eended up getting a cyclone basalisk (storm). Is this possible or was it some kind of bug? Thanks.

It's obviously possible because you have him/her. :)

Seriously though, it usually comes about with the Basilisk and Triton:
