Pet not there after using gift card

I got my son a $10 Wizard 101 gift card at Gamestop, and he just redeemed it. He already had a Wizard 101 account, but he wasn't a member. When we redeemed the card, it said he would get a pet. He has logged out and back in twice, but we still don't see the pet. Any ideas?

The pet arrives as an egg that needs to hatch. You can retrieve the egg from the 'Gift' icon that appears on the left side of the screen upon login.
