You get your school pet as a reward for finishing the level 48 spell quest.

lvl 48 pets are ....

Balance=hydra(and hydra card)
Storm=stormzilla(stormzilla card)
Myth=orthrus(orthrus card)
life=satyr(satyr card)
Death=wraith(wraith card)
Fire=helephant(helephant card)
Ice=ice collossus(ice collossus card)
But if you want to know lvl 48 spells -not the pet and spells- just spells is...

hanks for the info. i have another question. can you get a lvl 48 pet from another school? if you can, how do you get it?

This information is almost completely correct, the one correction is the level 48 spell for death. The 48 spell is Scarecrow, not forest lord!

Now, when you reach level 48, you will be summoned to your school by your teacher and given a quest. Once you complete the quest, your teacher will give you both, your level 48 spell and an egg that contains your level 48 pet!

Now, you will not get a pet from a different school, only the school which you are in. If you hatch, it is possible to get a different school pet, but these pets are school specific, so unless you get a hybrid, the pet wont be able to be used except on that specific school!
