I am currently training my starfish in hopes that it will learn spritely. When he advanced from baby to teen he learned health gift as a talent. Since then, it may just be me, but i've looked and i think the amount of health it gives me is going up the more i train it. Is it supposed to do that, or am i just seeing things?

Yes, it is supposed to do that. The amount of health it "gifts" you is based on your pets attributes so the more the pet improves, the better the amount.
