You can never tell, but the odds are you will get a few items you dont' want.
I think you normally get five talents from one and five talents from the other pet. Of those ten talents, you get a random selected four talents.
Because it random you can never tell what you are going to get. The odds are in favor of the dominate talents of the parents, but you can never really tell.
