So, there are a group of spell enchantments that can be learned in Stormriven. The premise for these is interesting and provides interesting spells. For example, Thunderbird is a conversion of Phoenix - and it does 610 damage and places 3 30% traps on the target. However, not many people use these and overall don't see use. The reasons?
Learning the enchants themselves is fine, however you also have to invest Training Points in schools you might otherwise not even want to. For example, to use the aforementioned Thunderbird - you need to invest a total of 9 Training Points. 1 to learn the enchant, and 8 to learn the appropriate spell. Crazy, right? These spells range from 5-9 Training Points to use as they were meant to.
The next problem is that they're really specific. Unlike other enchants, you have to find a specific pair of cards that otherwise do nothing unless you draw both. It's a very inconsistent method.
The spells themselves are basically stuck at their base powers, which makes them vastly inferior to other spells of the same pip cost because you can just use the simple and generic damage enchantments.
Honestly, I'm not too sure on how to fix these. The simplest way would be to give them a damage buff. If they did increased damage that was comparable to spells of the same tier, while maintaining their utility, it would justify spending the cost of 9 Training Points to obtain.
Another solution would be allow conversion spells to be further enchanted with another spell which would, again, make up for their low damage.
Whatever you do, it has to be something that makes up for the incredible Training Point costs for a single spell.
