I know it will help you find quests you may have missed, but if you use it in the commons, for example, and you have a quest in firecat alley, will it tell you about that, or just the quests in the commons?

I have never been able to figure that out.
Yeah, it looks for quests in the area you're in and if it doesn't find any it checks the world you're in. If nothing is found you get a message that there are no quests available in this world.
