Okay so I was doing PvP and my teammate had 100% storm resist and therefore was immune to storm, and he had 80% resist for all other schools. I on the other hand was close behind with 70% resist (I don't have the jade hat and I'm not max level) however when an AoE hit him he took around 1500 damage wheras I took around 3300 damage well there seems to be a big disparity there as that is more than a 10% difference and no he didn't have any shields on because at max level PvP shields are pretty useless due to pierce anyways.
