After much analysis of the layout in Alter of Kings, I've come to the conclusion that... I have no idea how the staircases fit together before they were smashed.
I mean, the part past the entrance to the Chamber of Fire looks like it used to descend towards a platform below, but there's another set of ruined stairs coming off of it descending in the opposite direction. Another staircase from that platform looks like it used to go straight through the giant statue. Then on the other side of the room, there's a staircase that ascends towards the underside of the stairs to Palace of Fire, and would dead-end itself in the space between the wall and that pillar with the fire pit. A staircase past Palace of Fire goes up towards nothing interesting, and the door above Chamber of Fire has nothing nearby for it's stairs to connect to. Just what kind of M.C. Escher drawing used to be here?
