i have stood by these pillars with the hourglass on them and i have come back often and this thing never opens. is it broken or something? or maybe you guys need to make it where it opens more often. this is dang ridiculous

Try changing realms. Sometimes the hourglass is filled up more or all the way in other realms, so you have a shorter wait.
