the Death Hunter pet talent appears to have no in game affect.
I have the Death Hunter pet talent unlocked and on my equipped pet. I have opened 10 chests in wizard city and 10 chests in celestia and there appears to be no in game affect.
from the chests I received gold and in one case 2 reagents.
I know my sample size is small I will see if I can generate a larger sample soon.

last night I opened 9 chests in Zafaria and 10 chests in Avalon
I got one treasure card but it was not a death rare. Tower Shield along with Gold from one of the chests in Zafara, everything else was gold or gold + reagents.
