Did you contact KI directly? I had the same thing going on, and it ended up being something they couldn't fix (a microsoft file went bad) and I just ended up doing a full system refresh and redownloaded the game. Works fine now. If you didn't want to refresh and redownload programs, try updating windows and see if that helps.
