It's Not so much a bug as a convenience for some. Actually the fact that either gender can go into eithers specified dorm, has brought to my attention that quite a few girls actually like the boys dorm. Not sure about the other way around, but what if you could change your designated dorm. So if a girl want's to teleport to a boys dorm they can, instead of having to walk across the street. It would just be a nice setting for some to have.
