The "canyon" is the area that you're dropped off at by the Drake, before you go into the Great Spyre. It's actually called the Dragon's Roost.
The rose is directly to your west as you walk into the circular room, tucked into the narrow passageway. To get to it, you'll need to go down a ways to the entrance between the two Spirit Guards and head back.
