I've been trying to complete this quest and have had no luck doing so. Any suggestions? I am running solo, is this the problem?

If you are around level 45, then yes, it is probably too difficult given this dungeon was designed for a group at that level. Have you tried "Team Up" (hopefully being an older dungeon, there are others still attempting it to group with)?
